Dale Innes Memorial Scholarship

Dale Innes (1951-2022)

Dale Innes was a musician of extraordinary breadth and depth. She had a distinguished career as a teacher, performer, music historian, festival adjudicator and senior examiner for the RCM. She also served as Coordinator of the Algoma University music program from 1991-2013, and was a longtime president of our local Sault Ste. Marie ORMTA chapter. She was also a published author specializing in the life and music of Glenn Gould, and his connection to Northern Ontario.

Dale believed that a musician is much more than just the playing and the lesson - it’s about social and historical awareness, the person, and the community they are a part of. Dale mentored well-rounded musicians and her commitment to using music as an agent for positive social change was an inspiration to the Sault Ste. Marie community.

The Dale Innes Memorial Scholarship is a $500 cash award to further studies in creative and artistic endeavors such as lessons, tuition, books and travel expenses for competitions. To be eligible, applicants must be a current student of an ORMTA teacher in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
